Valentine’s Day

Posted in Exercise, Fitness, Food, General, Health, Nutrition

I believe most people love to have a reason to celebrate. Valentine’s Day for many means a card, box of candy and or a dinner out including alcohol and dessert. Sometimes we need to make an effort to make new traditions and habits. I am firm believer that we should be able to enjoy some […]

Thanksgiving feast

Posted in Fitness, Food, General

We are so blessed to live in a country where we have opportunity and abundance.  However, abundance has not always proven to be a great advantage to things like our waistline or budget.  If holiday time is stressful because of constant parties and gatherings on both your weight and your wallet…..tighten your belt!! It is […]

I have had the privilege of working at Forever Friends Day Care with a group of beautiful children, not to mention their wonderful teachers. I am so excited and humbled to be part of an environment that really wants the best for the children. I’m sure they are one of many. The children and I […]

Attention All College and High School Students

Posted in Exercise, Fitness, Food, General, Health, Nutrition, Vitamins

The school year has come to a close and it is finally summer break, how we have been looking forward to that! It is also a great time to get into shape. The winter blahs and bad school food isn’t always great for the waistline, so why not plan to schedule some personal training as […]

Be an Encouragement: Receive Encouragement

Posted in Exercise, Food, General, Health

It is very challenging in our fast paced society to make sure we have time to take care of one of the most valuable things we have, our health. It can feel overwhelming just getting started making the necessary changes to eat healthier and to get regular exercise into your already busy life.  In our […]

Introduce your young ones to nutrition with my fun coloring book

Posted in Books, Food, General, Health, Nutrition

It is so important that our children get a good start with nutrition for optimal health.  From infancy to adolescence, a healthy diet is so important. I cannot stress enough the importance of a good immune system. We are constantly bombarded with negative energy from our environment. Computers, televisions and chemicals in the air and […]

Reading Labels

Posted in Food, General, Health, Nutrition

Reading labels on food items can be confusing. No doubt some of the vitamin names sound just like bad chemicals! Just keep your life simple and train yourself to enjoy eating natural things. YES, you can! Eating is a matter of habit. If you were born somewhere other than America your original diet would have […]

Own It! ask for help

Posted in Books, Fitness, Food, General, Health, Nutrition

Homeostasis is a word used to define balance.  Our bodies have regulatory mechanisms of the organ systems who are at work in our internal environment to bring about this balance. It is an endless job and we can either cooperate or hinder this effort. So many of the ailments and diseases we have become accustomed […]

Benefits

Posted in Fitness, Food, General, Health, Nutrition, Vitamins

I’d like to talk a little about benefits today.  It is a good word with a positive tone.  When you choose to eat fruit, it is going to come with benefits.  Where do I begin….how many body functions can thrive when fruit is in your diet. Let me name them: Adrenals, Bladder, Bones, Brain/Nerves, Bronchi, […]

Calorie Choices

Posted in Fitness, Food, General, Health, Nutrition

We live in America where many things are abundant.  Sometimes it is hard to say no…  Food, stuff and more stuff, eating out, staying up….  I had such a hard time with discipline when I became an adult, plus there is this thing called addiction. Sometimes we just can’t muster up self discipline to accomplish […]

Though I attend several of her classes, where Darla truly shines is as a personal trainer and
health coach. She saw where I was, and helped me to get where I wanted to be, even though I
wasn’t sure I was communicating it clearly. After just a year my Dr. was amazed to report my
bone density had improved, and my overall health was enhanced. Darla keeps training fresh,
challenging, and enjoyable; and she is always supportive and encouraging. During this time of
sheltering I have been continuing my training sessions via Skype, and her eagle eye doesn’t
miss a thing…still correcting my form and pushing me to go beyond where I thought I could go.
Thank you doesn’t seem nearly enough for someone who got me back on a positive health track
that has enriched body, mind and spirit. But thank you anyway, Darla.
