Calorie Choices

We live in America where many things are abundant.  Sometimes it is hard to say no…  Food, stuff and more stuff, eating out, staying up….  I had such a hard time with discipline when I became an adult, plus there is this thing called addiction. Sometimes we just can’t muster up self discipline to accomplish control. There is always help. No one should be ashamed to say they need it, we all need it from time to time. I had an addiction to alcohol when I was young and that created a snow ball of bad events, over and over. I am sober now 28 years and I thank God for that. Many people have this same addiction, it is hard to admit, but that is the first step. Remember your life does effect others. I took the following information from Sunshine Sharing, a publication put out by Nature’s Sunshine, a company that makes quality supplements. “Alcohol is, essentially, a pure, refined carbohydrate, which contributes to hypoglycemia (more on that next time). While a moderate amount of alcohol (such as a glass of wine with a meal) does not seem to cause any serious health problems, excessive alcohol consumption does. Over-consumption of alcohol damages the liver and brain, destroys personal relationships, and is the number one cause of traffic accidents. If you do drink alcohol, consume an extra glass of water for every alcoholic beverage you consume. Alcohol acts as a diuretic and is dehydrating, so you need extra water if you consume it. It also helps to consume it with food, which helps keep you blood sugar more stable.”

Though I attend several of her classes, where Darla truly shines is as a personal trainer and
health coach. She saw where I was, and helped me to get where I wanted to be, even though I
wasn’t sure I was communicating it clearly. After just a year my Dr. was amazed to report my
bone density had improved, and my overall health was enhanced. Darla keeps training fresh,
challenging, and enjoyable; and she is always supportive and encouraging. During this time of
sheltering I have been continuing my training sessions via Skype, and her eagle eye doesn’t
miss a thing…still correcting my form and pushing me to go beyond where I thought I could go.
Thank you doesn’t seem nearly enough for someone who got me back on a positive health track
that has enriched body, mind and spirit. But thank you anyway, Darla.
