Couch to 5k is not for everyone

Posted in Exercise, Fitness, Health

I know running gets such a great write up because of the amount of calories it can burn, but not everything is for every(body)! Anatomically we are not all the same our body frame is not made for every kind of exercise. Knowing what kind of body you have will help you pick the right […]

Put on your 3D glasses and get in the best shape of your life

Posted in Exercise, Fitness, General, Health

Time to put on your 3D glasses to reach for success. 1: Decision: Everything you do starts in your mind first. Make the decision that you are going to start today. You have to see yourself doing it. Don’t focus on what you feel like, or how you have failed in the past. Yesterday is […]

Every day is a new start to the rest of the best of your life. What is it you have always wanted to do? What is it you know you need to stop because it’s an obstacle to what you really want? Take a few moments and reflect on your life, what will happen if […]

Don’t neglect to stretch

Posted in Exercise, Fitness, Food, General, Health

When I was younger all I cared about was burning calories and weight control. Aging has taught me many things about priorities. Now my goal is first to feel good. Instead of eating to maintain weight, my number one objective is to eat to maintain optimal health. I don’t believe any one diet can give […]

Body Composition

Posted in Exercise, Fitness, Food, General

Body composition and body weight have different value. A person could be thin but still have an unhealthy amount of fat because they don’t have a good percentage of muscle.  Muscle is healthy tissue.  Using resistance training is a great way to build muscle mass. There are numerous exercises that can be done to create […]

Benefits of a well balanced life

Posted in Exercise, Fitness, Food, General, Health, Nutrition

The benefits of eating well and exercising regularly and getting rest far outweigh the alternatives.  If we are burning our candle at both ends, eating on the go and never getting enough restful sleep, eventually we are going to crash and burn.  Quality proteins, I believe best from animal sources, fresh cooked and raw vegetables, […]

When you don’t feel like it…

Posted in Exercise, Fitness, Health

When you don’t feel like it, you still brush your teeth.. I heard someone say, only floss the teeth you want to keep! I will say the same discipline for working out is just as important. There are so many different types of workouts you could do. I have said many times that the one […]

Spring Fling

Posted in Exercise, Fitness, Food, General, Health, Nutrition

Spring, yeah! If you are like me and most of the people I know, you can’t wait for the cold dark winter to end and spring to begin. Spring, the days are brighter and start to get longer and so much new life begins. The season itself is motivational.  So how about spring cleaning your […]

Keeping Yourself Motivated

Posted in Exercise, Fitness, Health

One of the best things we can do to keep ourselves motivated is to learn something new.  There will always be people who have either more skill or a different spin on what you and I are already an “expert” at! Yesterday I attended a PiYo LIVE certification, part of the Beach Body Family of […]

Valentine’s Day

Posted in Exercise, Fitness, Food, General, Health, Nutrition

I believe most people love to have a reason to celebrate. Valentine’s Day for many means a card, box of candy and or a dinner out including alcohol and dessert. Sometimes we need to make an effort to make new traditions and habits. I am firm believer that we should be able to enjoy some […]

Though I attend several of her classes, where Darla truly shines is as a personal trainer and
health coach. She saw where I was, and helped me to get where I wanted to be, even though I
wasn’t sure I was communicating it clearly. After just a year my Dr. was amazed to report my
bone density had improved, and my overall health was enhanced. Darla keeps training fresh,
challenging, and enjoyable; and she is always supportive and encouraging. During this time of
sheltering I have been continuing my training sessions via Skype, and her eagle eye doesn’t
miss a thing…still correcting my form and pushing me to go beyond where I thought I could go.
Thank you doesn’t seem nearly enough for someone who got me back on a positive health track
that has enriched body, mind and spirit. But thank you anyway, Darla.
