New Year New You…again

Posted in Exercise, Fitness, General, Health, Nutrition

I have read that getting fit is one of the most popular New Year’s resolutions, if not the most popular. I don’t know if it is still a “thing” to join a gym in January because you want to start the year off on the right foot, only to have those best intentions – for many solid reasons – fail. Is getting fit one of your resolutions this year?  If it isn’t, maybe you’re already an exercise enthusiast, and I applaud you. Or perhaps you felt like you have “been there, done that” and don’t want to waste the time, effort, and money on a gym membership you won’t use. Oooh, that doesn’t sound very encouraging, especially from me, but read on.

Why not try a different approach to health and fitness this year and find a trainer? All trainers have their own specialties, so look for one that will fit with your goals. If you want to train really hard because you are athletic, and you just let yourself get out of the game, then look for a trainer who would like nothing better than to wear you out! Nothing wrong with that, but it’s not for everyone. If your goal is to achieve and maintain a healthy level of fitness, to say “hello” to a new you this new year, then I have great news!

As a personal trainer, I approach fitness training differently. Fitness is more than diets and exercise. Fitness is about movement, play, community, and nutrition – and it looks different for each person. By learning first about you, where you are and where you want to go, I am able to come up with a plan that fits your age, abilities, objectives and enjoyment!  I want you to be challenged, but not so sore you can’t move the next day (or day after). My goal is for you to feel and look your best at a pace that we develop and set together.  I excel at helping you feel great during your hour session by working your cardiovascular system, your musculoskeletal system and your brain because you are involved in creating your workout. If you don’t like something we do, or if you have injuries or conditions that inhibit the performing of certain exercises, we will try something else. At the completion of your session you will feel strong and relaxed, and I like to send you off with inspiration to keep you moving trough the remainder of your week.

So consider letting me be your workout buddy, whether it’s for the short or long term. I have a fully equipped studio, and the knowledge and experience to help you learn how to do things correctly and safely. I am your accountability partner, and will help you reach your goals through good work, good play and good humor. My intention is to take my clients on a journey of real, long-lasting, transformation of body, mind, and spirit.

There is no time like the present to invest in a healthier you. Consider the cost of a personal trainer as important as any investment you make in this new year. You will reap the savings of a new and healthier you!

I always say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Get in touch with me, and let me help you get back in touch with you!
Happy and Healthy New Year

Though I attend several of her classes, where Darla truly shines is as a personal trainer and
health coach. She saw where I was, and helped me to get where I wanted to be, even though I
wasn’t sure I was communicating it clearly. After just a year my Dr. was amazed to report my
bone density had improved, and my overall health was enhanced. Darla keeps training fresh,
challenging, and enjoyable; and she is always supportive and encouraging. During this time of
sheltering I have been continuing my training sessions via Skype, and her eagle eye doesn’t
miss a thing…still correcting my form and pushing me to go beyond where I thought I could go.
Thank you doesn’t seem nearly enough for someone who got me back on a positive health track
that has enriched body, mind and spirit. But thank you anyway, Darla.
