Are you being thankful for the body you have been given?!
Posted in Exercise, Fitness, Food, General, Health, NutritionHello and thank you for taking the time to read this blog. I hope to inspire you to make a healthy change today for a better tomorrow. I got a new car this spring and I have been trying to take good care of it. I did something dumb the other day because I was in a rush and I opened the hatch at the same time the garage door was opening, that may not mean anything unless you know the height of the garage door does not allow clearance for that and I put some scratches in my new paint, sad face. It’s a car and the “new” can’t last forever, but I was hoping it would last longer than this before I had battle scars.
Our bodies need regular maintenance and care just like any other possession we may have. Unlike our cars or homes which we can “trade up” we only have one body to work with as long as we are breathing! There is never a better time than the present to start making better decisions for good health. Doctors and hospitals should be on your “very last resort list for health”. Prevention is not really the way our western medicine is geared. If you want to take care of your car and home you have to been consistent with your maintenance. What does maintenance look like for your body? Exercise! Yes exercise is high on the list. I just heard that even walking 1 mile a day is great for prevention of certain cancers. One mile is not really that time consuming and you don’t even have to do it all at once if you are not up for it yet! How about water, are you drinking at least 8 8 ounce glasses? What does water do and why do you need it? By the way coffee and tea does not count as a contribution! Water helps with saliva, digestion, circulation, absorption, transportation of nutrients and helps regulate body temperature. Sometimes when we feel hungry it is really our bodies craving water. Headache…could need water, body aches…could mean you need more water; constipation…well you know what I’m going to say. Sleep, oh I love my sleep. I always tell my husband I need my beauty rest, not solely for what it does for me physically but also what it does for my attitude. I really like 8 hours whenever I can. Sleep is a time when the body repairs itself and your mind shuts down (that is especially good for some of us). Don’t forget fun, laughter is good like medicine.
If you are thankful for something it is usually because it has value to you. What changes are you ready to make that express you are thankful for the body you have? If you want to be able to get the most out of your body you have to take care of it!
