Body Composition

Posted in Exercise, Fitness, Food, General

Body composition and body weight have different value. A person could be thin but still have an unhealthy amount of fat because they don’t have a good percentage of muscle.  Muscle is healthy tissue.  Using resistance training is a great way to build muscle mass. There are numerous exercises that can be done to create resistance and muscle hypertrophy.  Push-ups are a great exercise because you don’t need any extra equipment, you don’t need a lot of room and they are not noisy if you live in an apartment or condo. There are many types of push-ups and if you are new to using them, beginner ones are the way to go. Injury prevention is an important tool to keep you from quitting! I wish I could say “all that people need to do to keep a healthy body composition is keep from overeating, exercise and sleep. Unfortunately, some people have had obstacles that may need professional intervention from a knowledgeable naturopath. Hormone imbalance or the chronic use of corticosteroids and some other possible metabolic factors could put a road block in the success of a program that should be working. Don’t give up if that is you.  The naturopath may be the direction for you to get back on the healthy track.  For the basically healthy individual, make no excuses, start today on your good body composition journey.
